Re-Branding Of Bukit Bintang Area

Be it Jalan Kejora and Jalan Alor. To me and you, fellow Malaysian should not be a problem because we live here and therefore can pronounce both without difficulty. But to the foreigners and tourist who are looking for good food in KL area, Jalan Alor is definitely much easier to memorise and pronounce than Jalan Kejora.

Lately, DBKL got backfired for renaming the street in the name of "creating new image" for Bukit Bintang area. I think DBKL is lack of business sense when they changed the name, they did not realise this unnecessary change will affect many travel related materials/booklets, they will have to be reprinted. DBKL also did not realise the impact on people's daily life. They do not bother to give the city folks an advance notice about the change.

Changing of street name is not uncommon but DBLK should be more sensitive and consult the Federal Territory wakil rakyat before the change. Now DBKL sees stars (Kejora means star), they naively think that changing the name=creating new image. Abdullah Badawi will still flop even if he changes his name to call himself Mahathir.

Well, I don't echo the call by the opposition to ask for the Datuk bandar, Abdul Hakim Borhan to resign over this matter. Rather, he should fly lesser to overseas and go down to the streets more often to understand the rakyat.

We love Jalan Alor. Hidup Jalan Alor!
